Frequently Asked Questions
What is Above Average?
Above Average is comedy’s overachiever. We make original comedic videos and written content featuring the industry’s top creators, celebrities, and rising talent. We make web series and videos including “7 Minutes in Heaven,” “Alec Baldwin’s Love Ride,” “Hudson Valley Ballers,” “Sound Advice” with Vanessa Bayer, and “Everyone’s Upstairs Neighbors.” You can find us on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. We have also collaborated with brands on original comedy, like Pepsi’s “Camp Halftime” starring Donald Faison, Marriott’s “It Pays To Book Direct” campaign with Grace Helbig, “Hudson Valley Ballers” with Lexus’ L/Studios, and more.
What is The Kicker?
The Kicker is the web’s leading destination for short-form sports comedy, and is a digital property of Above Average. Led by editor-in-chief Bryan Tucker (who also serves as Saturday Night Live co-head writer), The Kicker collaborates with top athletes, comedians and celebrities to create original sports comedy videos and web series, including “Branding U” and “Every Press Conference Ever.” Made for dedicated and casual fans alike, The Kicker gives its humorous take on sports news, events, and culture every day.
How do you get comedians and celebrities to appear in your videos?
We work with many of the funniest creators to develop videos for Above Average, bring their ideas to life and give them a platform. Our network consists of people who are well-represented across the comedy community who you may recognize from viral videos, television shows, movies, and improv and stand-up shows.
I am obsessed with __________________ series. Will there be more episodes?
If Land Before Time XIII and Rudy have taught us anything, it’s that comebacks are always possible. The best way to keep up to date on what shows are returning is to sign up for the weekly newsletter.
Where can I send my script, video, or pitch for consideration?
At the moment we are unable to accept unsolicited submissions, but we do welcome your feedback.
Do you offer internships?
Yes! Some fine print: you must receive college credit for your internship and be available to work in our offices in New York. We typically look for interns in July for the fall semester; November for the spring semester; and March for summer interns. The deadline to apply for a Fall 2016 internship is August 10. If you are interested, please send a cover letter and resume to email@example.com with the subject line INTERNSHIP.
