I don’t really know much about Scientology, but after seeing that 30 second montage of stock footage, it seems like they’ve got everything figured out.
If you haven’t seen the ad, go watch it now. But if you’re stuck at work and can’t, the best way I can describe it is a bunch of science-y looking stuff, followed by a bunch of religion-y looking stuff. It’s hard to put into words just how convincing this vague imagery and generic inspirational music is, but all I’ll say is I personally put down my wings and purchased a copy of Dianetics as soon as the ad ended.
I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect to find scientific and spiritual truth in a commercial during the biggest football game of the year. But I’m not going to let that stop me from giving Scientology a solid shot. I mean, if CBS is willing to give them airtime during the largest television event of the year, I’m pretty sure they’re on the up-and-up.
So thank you Super Bowl: I’m soon to be a full-fledged Scientologist! Wish me luck!
